The Motorcycle Diaries



The Motorcycle Diaries (2004) is a latino basted movie staring Gael Garcia Bernal, as Earnest, and Rodrigo De La Serna as Alberto. This movie is about two Argentinian younths who travel to America to learn about the Latino culture of America. This film has recieved several awards from such productions as the Academy Awards, British Acadamy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, and the L.A. Film Critics Association.
The movie relates to the book, through the idea that the only, and best way of learning is through travel and practicality not through lectures.

Australopithecus are underdeveloped humans on the evolutionary chain, monkey huminoids who excisted 3.7 million years ago. In the text Blue and her father refers to those who attend contact sports whoooping as nothing beter than monkeys hooting, and going wild in the jungle or zoo.

Howard Hughes 1905-1976


Howard Hughes was a inspiration of his time, being "the" star example that what ever you put your mind to, through hard work it can be achieved. Born on December 24, 1905 and passing away April 5, 1976, within his time in this world he accomplished many great fetas from directing Academy winning movies such as "Two Arabian Knights", and Academy award nominated comedies "The Racket" (1928) and "The Front Page" (1931). Howard Hughes was also a speed demon, who enjoyed everything from planes to race cars, setting many world record of speed. Sadly though on July 11, 1936 Hughes was arrested for drinking and driving killing an unfortunate predestrian.

Kubla Khan

"Kubla Khan" Is a highly controversial poem to which people have claimed everything from writing, inspiring, and even the meaning of the poem. But with reference to the book Kubla Khan was the emperor of China who decreed his subjects to erect a palace worth for a son of god, thus being himself. The whole name of the poem is "Kubla Khan, or a Vision in a Dream. A Fragment" which the title of the poem is also highly controversial with regard to its origin's, and its meaning.

The Grapes of Wrath





"The Grapes of Wrath" By John Steinbeck This book is about a man named Tom Joad parolled out of prison for man slaughter, restricting him to live in Oklahoma, but breaks parole and embarks on a journey with his family, and a preacher west in hope for a new life. On the journey Tom finds finds many other families such as his own traveling West to find a better living, but upon arriving to their destination they find that there is little hope for that. The jobs are few, and the work force many, with no descent paying jobs due to greedy corporations. In retaliation the working people resort to joining unions, but it only results in Tom's friend the preacher being killed, causing Tom to kill again and flee once more from the law.

arabesque: A type of islamic art that is typically used in on mosques which symbolizes infinity, depicting animals trees, and nature in it's truest form

attitude, ciseaux, and balance:

Moth mood madness: to have one's mind attached to a single thought as a moth would be to a light

Tight-knit circle of incest: A group or party which only favors those of the same stature, to relate to.

Itinerant existence: in a literal sense it means a traveling existence, where a person does not stay live in one place nor do they settle for too long.

Figeater beetle: This is just another name for June Bug, which Blue refers to her fathers girl friends, because like the bugs which have short life spans, as does Blue's father's relationships.

Molluses: this is probably a mistake by the author, or an accent meaning molasses by the lady

Maitre d: This is a person who is is a manager who looks out for the customers and worked the employees, making sure they get their jobs done

Simians: They are primates who date back for 40 million years, and tend to be larger than most other lower level primates.

Giant skink: This is a type of reptile which in it's family being a "skink" is the largest of its kind, found on the island of solomon, and can grow up to 76cm
